Mars Mission (2018)

Digital photography, (available as prints on paper, canvas and aluminum, size variable) video, text

To travel to the red planet may not be possible for a while yet but there are ways of experiencing Mars on our home planet. Countless Martian-like landscapes exist within our reach among the desert spaces. In a tongue-in-cheek voyage of exploration, based on the science fiction series Star Trek, the artist visits Marsian-like landscapes looking for ancient life-forms, lost civilizations and water. Desert exploration offers solitude and inward reflection not only the thrill of going “where no one has gone before.” In this series, NASA’s Mars images are interspersed with images from the vast deserts of the Arabian Peninsula.
